Mumbai: The 30-share bellwether BSE Sensex ended at 20,890.82, a gain of 40.08 points, or 0.19% on Tuesday on back of gains in the Asian stock market and continued foreign fund inflows.
The broader index of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) Nifty rose 0.23%, or 14.35 points, to 6,203.35.
Among the gainers, Hindalco Industries Ltd gained 4.25% to Rs.124, while Maruti Suzuki India Ltd rose 3.28% to Rs.1,682.95 and Jindal Steel and Power Ltd rose 4.37% to Rs.255.45.
The losers included Sesa Sterlite Ltd that lost 1.88% to Rs.184.90. HDFC Bank Ltd lost 1.29% to Rs.659.95.05 and Bajaj Auto Ltd lost 0.71% to Rs.2,015.05.
Financial Technologies India Ltd shares gained 2.07% to Rs.185.05 per share as it agreed to sell stake in Singapore Mercentile Exchange.
