Sensex crosses 19000 in early trade

- Mumbai: The BSE Sensex, India’s benchmark index, crossed the 19000 mark in early trade.
- At 09.32 am, the 30-share BSE Sensex dropped 0.11%, or 20.94 points, to 19,000.7 after opening at 19,105.86. The National Stock Exchange’s (NSE’s) broader 50-share Nifty gained 0.1%, or 5.85 points, to 5,598.8.
- BSE HealthCare was the biggest gainer among the sectoral indices. The index gained 1.13% to 9,152.27. while the banking index, Bankex lost, 0.59%.
- Shares of ICICI Bank Ltd gained 2.61% to Rs.916.45, Wipro Ltd gained 1.72% to Rs.476.45 and Dr Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd gained 1.57% to Rs.2,329.30
- Among the losers, Sesa Goa Ltd lost 5.03% to Rs.169.85, Coal India Ltd lost 2.12% to Rs.277.15 and HDFC Bank Ltd lost 2.67% to Rs.592.5.
