Sensex opens flat in choppy trade
The healthcare index rises 0.34% to be the biggest gainer, while FMCG index was biggest loser, falling 0.37

Mumbai: The 30-share bellwether BSE Sensex on
Thursday opened flat in choppy trade ahead of the earnings season that
starts on Friday with Infosys Ltd’s announcement of its September quarter earnings.
At 9.21am, the benchmark index was trading up 0.01%, or
1.06 points, at 20,250.32 points, while the National Stock Exchange’s
(NSE’s) broader 50-share index—Nifty was trading up 0.08%, or 5 points,
at 6,012.45 points.
The BSE healthcare index rose 0.34% to be the biggest gainer, while the BSE FMCG index was the biggest loser, falling 0.37%.
The gainers included Tata Steel Ltd that rose 1.11% to Rs.306.25, Jindal Steel Ltd rose 1.01% to Rs.251.05.
Among the losers, ICICI Bank Ltd lost 1.04% to Rs.939.90, while Tata Power Co. Ltd fell 0.87% to Rs.85.10.
